Bright, functional headlights are critical for nighttime safety. Most bulbs can be accessed from the engine bay without tools.

Step-by-step video walkthrough for this procedure
Check your owner's manual or search online for your vehicle's year/make/model to find the correct H1, H4, H7, H11, or other bulb type. Bring the old bulb to the auto parts store to match it if needed.
On most vehicles, headlight bulbs are accessed by reaching behind the headlight housing in the engine bay — no need to remove the headlight assembly. Locate the connector at the back of the housing.
Squeeze the tab and pull the connector off the bulb. The connector slides straight off — don't pry or force it sideways.
The bulb is held by a retaining clip or ring. Unclip or unscrew it, then pull the bulb straight out. Install the new bulb without touching the glass.
Reconnect the wiring connector (should click into place). Turn on the headlights to confirm the new bulb works before reassembling anything. Adjust headlight aim if necessary using the adjustment screws near the housing.
